FM: Not yet - but with your help, Pulse will be applying during the next round for a full-time FM community radio licence from Ofcom. A substantial amount of money and other support is required to set up and run Pulse - a Not-for-Profit registered Company. If you would like to help us bring FM community radio to the Cheddar valley and surrounding Mendip hill communities, please get in touch! In the meantime, we are working to put the radio station on-air via 105.0 FM as soon as possible.

PC / LAPTOP / MAC: Just click 'Listen Now' on the left hand menu called 'Station Decades' within this website via your browser, once the page loads select one of the four icons at top right hand side of the page, or simply click one of these icons - your default media player should start playing our output.

WI-FI RADIO: We're currently registered with two wi-fi internet radio portals: www.reciva.com and www.wifiradio-frontier.com - this means that, with a wireless network in your home or office, simply buy a wi-fi radio from most good IT or electrical retailers and scroll through the menus, add us to your unit's pre-sets and away you go, a list of suitable radio are found below - it's just like listening to a normal radio!

HOME MEDIA CENTRE: Use select home entertainment systems like a web browser (with internet connectivity) to find us on your TV and click 'LISTEN LIVE' just like you would on your PC, Laptop or MAC! If you have a ReelBox or Dreambox you can find us under the Shoutcast listings, search for Pulse * NOTE: add the star when searching!

MOBILE PHONE: Our service for I-Phones and I-Pod Touch is a great way to listen while on the move, more information below.

Internet Radio Receivers

So you have found the Pulse website and know you can listen to us via your computer with our online formats: Winamp pls, Windows Media asx, Real Player ram and Quicktime qtl, but what about in a room where you can not hear your computer?

One solution is to stream our stations via an iPod Touch, iPhone or equivalent smart phone.

The iPhone's memory might be too small at only 8 and 16Gb respectively to carry your own complete music collection with you, but thanks to a growing number of streaming music apps, you do not have to rely on your local storage any more to have an ample supply of new music to listen to.

You can now receive Pulse ** 105.0 FM ** on the Tunin.FM service via your iPhone as described below.

With the introduction of the iCarRadio application Tunin.FM provides another way to listen to Internet Radio on the iPhone.

The web based version of the Internet Radio service Tunin.FM requires an WiFi or 3G network connection.

This works perfect at home or work. However when outdoors the 3G signal is not always strong, meaning the the iPhone will automatically switch between GPRS/EDGE networks. The capacity of such networks is both limited and shared with other people in the same area. This in turn causes the iPhone to stop radio playback frequently.

IcarRadio makes it better!

Tunin.FM iCarRadio now comes with improved support for diverse cellular networks.
As a key feature, the application is designed for use on low capacity networks outdoor, in traffic or at home/work.

Stations play in either 29K or 128K bandwidth, enabling good streaming audio quality even on GPRS networks (which means the iPhone 1^st gen is in on the party). I was eager to test both versions of the app, and was pleased with what I found.

Sound Quality

We combine the newest technology to provide the best possible sound quality even on 2.5/GPRS networks.

Sound quality remains very good and in full stereo even in the car, on a bus, train or even a bike.

Selection of radio stations

Select your favourite station out of an extensive selection of hundreds of radio stations world wide. It’s easy to find your favourite. You can find the radio station by genre, country or by name, simply type Pulse * within the search bar.

Personal top 10

In the full version you can create a personal top ten list of your favourite radio stations. The FREE trial version provides you the same capability, except that the application will not remember your personal top ten when you log out and start the application next time.

Our Review:

This is an awesome app. RadioBox makes it simple to search and access a wide range of Internet radio stations. Thanks to ShoutCast and Icecast you can search from an almost endless variety of stations including all Cheddar Radio decade streams. You can search by type or simply look at a list of the most popular stations. When you find one you like, you can easily add it as a favourite. In this way you can quickly create your own list of favourites so that future searches are not required.
