Spencer James

Spencer James

Spencer James has been working in the media for over 15 years, and has been broadcasting for nearly a decade.

In that time he has been the programming controller for the UK's first bi-lingual student radio station, Production & Promotions Manager for one of Spain's biggest English radio networks, drive time and breakfast host on stations in the south east of the UK, as well as hosting The eXpat Chart.

His passion for the media started originally in television, where he became a first assistant director for a couple of short films, one of which was BAFTA nominated. It was whilst at university however he truly became involved in radio broadcasting. Starting as a presenter, he worked up the ranks to become the Programme Manager for 2 years whilst also attaining a degree in Film & Television at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.

Post graduation, he worked abroad, for what was supposed to be a summer break. 3 years later he was still there helping in the running of the station. His return to the UK saw him take a role at AA Roadwatch, reporting travel news across north London, Essex, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire as one of the flying eyes. He spent his days flying around in a small aeroplane reporting on accidents and jams. It sounds more glamorous than it was!

Spencer James - The eXpat Chart Show (Top 40 Countdown)

In 2003 he started working as a presenter for one of the major radio groups in the South East of the UK, working throughout the schedule from drive time to breakfast show presenter. In the spring of 2008, Spencer hit upon the idea of a chart show for radio stations across Europe and the Middle East, and from that The eXpat Chart was born.

When Spencer is not behind the microphone, he can be found cheering (loudly according to his girlfriend) on the England rugby team, as well as trying to hit a golf ball around the place. He also likes creating and experimenting in the kitchen, trying to invent new and interesting recipes, usually with varying degrees of success.

Gary Lincoln

Gary Lincoln

Gary's interest in radio broadcasting started way back in the mid 60s when his senior school were awarded a grant to start an experimental radio station that would broadcast to the main school building from the art annex in the school grounds thus Radio GM (George Mitchell) was born and Playground Pops presented by Gary Lincoln hit the cablewaves.

He then progressed to Whipps Cross hospital radio as a trainee. Several years later he met Mike Jones and in general conversation Mike mentioned that he was a presenter on Radio Basildon, Britains first new-town cable radio station. Gary applied to be a presenter at Radio Basildon and was offered a regular slot where he remained for about 4 years broadcasting to around 20,000 listeners daily.

Gary was then offered a job with Swansea Sound and made his way to the land of song where after a couple of years he moved to BRMB in Birmingham, throughout this time he was also travelling around the country voicing and producing radio ads and promos for other stations and organisations.

After a short spell in Los Angeles as a Presenter Trainer Gary returned to Blighty and worked for Essex Radio then based at Southend on Sea (Mike also worked there and " Got him in ")

Gary is still writing commercials to make ends meet, he produced a series of radio ads for Pioneer in-car entertainment systems which won 3 Sony awards via Capital Radio, Invicta Radio in Canterbury was just starting up so he did a spell there as well as Mercia Sound in Coventry and V/Os at 210 Reading, Red Dragon Radio, Gateway FM, promos on Link FM and many many others. Gary now has a full broadcast spec studio at home which means the endless travelling from one station to another has now gone. A very busy but interesting 30 years later and the " buzz " is still there.

Gary Lincoln - Cool Cuts

Gary brings a refreshing mixture of old tracks with a twist of alternative artist to some well know songs, he also entwines the odd new track or artist to bring you a truly cool mix of music.

There is of course a hint of comedy to be found within Cool Cuts from the likes of Larual and Hardy to Count Arthur Strong, listen out for Count Arthur Strong’s, "Forgotten Egypt" The Thrill of Ancient Egypt in a language we can all understand, listen to this fascinating lecture talk. Or how about "The Greatest Story Ever Told" which is classic territory for a man whose thirst for knowledge knows no bounds. Who could forget his previous lecture, Forgotten Egypt – except him perhaps! This time, he delves into the biblical archives and unravels ancient myths and mysteries surrounding Noah’s Ark, The Ten Commandments, The Feeding of the Five Thousand and, naturally, Father Christmas! As ever, he will attempt to instruct and educate, and as ever, he will inevitably fail.

Count Arthur Strong combines sardonic wit and old school sensibilities with a touch of Basil Fawlty. His forgetfulness and slight deafness result in sporadic and unnecessary shouting reminiscent of an elder relation, to whom everyone can relate.

Why not checkout Count Arthur Strong's website

Before you know it 2 hours of splendid music and comedy will have passed leaving you waiting for the next show!

Keith Oliver

Kieth Oliver

Keith Oliver will be remembered by many as he was a firm favourite with listeners on Orchard FM where many were first introduced to Keith when he presented the overnight show: "Night Watch". Keith was to return to Orchard FM to present their very own locally presented overnight show. Keith again left the airwaves but but was to shortly return and present a show on Saturday evenings.

Since leaving Orchard FM, Keith was involved with a local station for Yeovil called YDR FM which after five years unfortunately failed in its bid to win the local licence, he is however still a presenter at Taunton hospital radio station Apple AM.

Keith first started in radio way back in 1971, he lives in Chard with wife, Helen along with Scharna and Dexter both German Shepherds. These days you will find Keith working at Yeovil's Screwfix-Direct.
